I was thinking if you had a secure membership area using Login Frequency Marketing, Wishmember, or any other membership script (even free WP ones) then each membership would have a different level which could be checked through the data base giving them the version #1, #2, or #3 or whatever as the case would be.

This would be fairly easy unless you want to process through a 3rd party site like clickbank, jvzoo, warrior plus ect... In that case I think you would need to do this through an API, Which brings me to my second idea.

Idea number 2 was through a Paypal API. They make 1 payment the get the lite version, 2nd payment is an upgrade ect...

I don't much about API's so I will probably be asking lots of questions.

Another idea for if you don't have a membership level installed would be 3 WP installs. Version 1 they log in with id at site one. Version 2 they log in with id at site two... ect..
Seems like a convoluted way to be doing things though. Simple is better so I don't like this idea very much.

Aside from paypal, what other payment processors do people use?

Paypal is the most popular and so far has suited my needs just fine.

 

At one point I looked into 2checkout.com as a back up payment source. They are very popular. authorize.net is another but I don't know anything about it.

 

There are many others out there but paypal and 2checkout will likely be all that I will ever use.

I prefer clickbank.

 

You can also pay through clickbank with paypal. So it is a win-win situation.

Wouldn't the problem with this be that once a cracker figures out how to crack one bot, then all our bots would be at risk? They could just duplicate the process. I agree with you, and I think this should be available on dev edition (Eddie and Seth, take note, this would be an AWESOME feature and would really give your customers everything they need to profit from selling bots), but it just seems like it might not be the most secure method? I'm far from an expert, so please correct me if I'm wrong.

Sorry to say, but it's probably NEVER going to happen .

I found this easy if your selling on the warrior forum - works as a whole with warrior plus + wso launch code theme + wordpress: 

 

warrior plus uses Paypal IPN:

Within the wso launch code theme there is IPN Forwarding URL and Key Generation URL - you add that to warriors plus.  

 

Then make it so the user has to sign in and  bot finds "security image" or whatever before bot will run correctly.

 

Also if you have upsells which are the versions of your bot that have more options then you add more WP blogs as needed.

 

I don't understand paypal ipn but there is probably variations on this method.
