A few questions before I make the leap to ubot

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, I've been using a different automation software for several years now, but due to lack of support for proxies, referrers, and other things I am constantly needing these days, I've been looking into an alternative. I spent the better part of last night watching various YouTube videos created by users, and reading threads in this forum...and must say that I am very impressed with what I've seen that ubot can do so far. For example, built-in email verification...something which is a major pain in the butt to do in my other software (due to lack of POP3 support which Hotmail uses)...is one nice feature out of many which has gotten my attention:

I've just got a few questions before I finally make the leap:

1. Can ubot handle Asian text characters (Japanese, Chinese) without problems? I read a couple of older threads mentioning issues with foreign characters, but these are from the year 2010, so wasn't sure if it may have been taken care of already:

http://www.ubotstudio.com/forum/index.php?/topic/4140-foreign-language-inner-text-question/

http://www.ubotstudio.com/forum/index.php?/topic/4102-foreign-language-characters/

There are projects where I will absolutely need to, for example, check the title of a verification email where that title is completely in Japanese. Also, is it possible to use Asian characters in the menus, text boxes, etc. of the bot's GUI if I were to build bots for foreign users?

2. I saw talk in a few threads about a "Browser Property" command which could be used to set screen resolution, operating system, etc...Is it currently possible to do this in ubot?

3. Lastly, I noticed mention of a version 5 coming. On the sales page, it says 3 Months FREE Updates for the Standard Edition. Is this also the case for the Developer Edition?

It looks like a great community here. Hope to join you all soon. :)

Hey, welcome to the forum.

For 1. you shouldn't have problems, I was able to scrape foreign characters like Chinese and save them into CSV file. If you buy DEV version you also shouldn't have problems with UI, since it's based on HTML.

For 2. I heard (some time ago) that it doesn't work well, at least some parts...here is one of the discussions: http://www.ubotstudio.com/forum/index.php?/topic/11873-how-to-set-browser-property/&do=findComment&comment=72676 And if I remember correctly, it was removed from UBot for now.

3.: You get free updates for 3 months, no matter which version you buy. After that time you have to pay for the updates monthly/yearly.

However, I think I can assure you that you wont regret buying UBot. ;)

Welcome to the community , Ubot is way ahead of its competition when it comes to features !

For the V5 you get it for free if it is released within the next 3 months , no upgrade fees as far as i know !

Thank you for your replies everyone. The biggest thing for me is ability to work with Asian characters, but as UBotDev.com mentioned being able to scrape Chinese successfully then I'm thinking it may be ok. I guess the best way to know for sure is to just make the purchase, and test it for those 30 days in every way possible to see if it has any issues with Asian text.

As for the browser property command, there do seem to be people saying it works while others say it doesn't. In addition to the thread UBotDev posted above, I also came across this one started by The450Man in April where it's mentioned that it's being worked on: http://www.ubotstudio.com/forum/index.php?/topic/13677-browser-size-and-desktop-screen-size-change/

Also this: http://wiki.ubotstudio.com/wiki/Set_Browser_Property - "The command is currently unavailable as we improve it's performance."

I'm guessing it's still unavailable as I see The450Man's post above in this thread about it possibly being disabled still. Anyway, this feature would indeed be really powerful to have, but isn't a no-go for me. There are enough nice features in ubot that I think I'm going to make the plunge and pick it up today. :)

Very excited to start playing around with this and seeing what's possible!
