Built-In Browser (Add-Ons/Extensions) ?

Recommended Posts

With Firefox and Chrome, there are some cool add-ons/extensions that can be added that do some cool things/tasks.

I'd like to scrape the data they generate, what do you think? :)

Example:

Imagine having SEOQUake installed (like as in FireFox) and being able to scrape data thery have for Google search results.

:

If you ar enot aware of what this (example) add-on/extension can do, see here:

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/seoquake-seo-extension/?src=search

So can uBot's browser be made to allow installs of these add-ons/extensions?

*** For now I am talking about running my own bots this way. (If you sold one that needed the add-on/extension installed you'd have to figure out a way to go about that).

To me this is similar to the Bot Bank. These tools have already been created, let's leverage them.:)

Don't the firefox commands allow for that? The built-in browser is Awesomium Chrome, so you might want to check with them if this is supported.

Right, but since Awesomium is not made by ubot - it's a commercial framework, you need to ask them if it supports such functionality and if they'll ever implement it.

But the firefox commands should already work, no? It's just a normal firefox commanded via shell.

Well, "Chrome" itself allows for extensions, as seen here:

https://chrome.google.com/webstore/category/ext/11-web-development?utm_campaign=en&utm_source=ha-en-na-us-extensions-categories-google&utm_medium=ha#category/ext/11-web-development?utm_campaign=en&utm_source=ha-en-na-us-extensions-categories-google&utm_medium=ha

But what I am not sure about is if any of their "extensions" add information to what the browser displays, as shown in my intial post example... Where then it can be scraped from the page. (The Firefox SEOQuake extension would allow data to be be scraped since it adds data to the search results page.)

UPDATE:

This extension (for Chrome) does add information to the SERP in Google, therefore it could be scraped:
