How to ensure my username is under 10 charactors

Im trying to fill user names but noticing some are not going through. Tried manually and found that site in question will not accept more than 10 charactors for a user name. So Im thinking I need to trim or use relative terms it but cant find anything on how to go about this with a user name from account data..

 

Any help appreciated..

Yes, you need the substring constant:

 

ui text box("Username", #un)

set(#un, $substring(#un, 0, 10), "Global")
