There's always been a bug in ubot and its probably because of the chrome browser that it uses. I have the software - when compiled, set people to certain places on a web site. Now what happens is and it doesn't happen all the time, is when they click certain elements that may be links to other pages on the site, ubot opens a 'open file' dialog box. Any way to stop that? Your Thoughts On The "lifetime License" Business Model?
Frank replied to HelloInsomnia's topic in General Discussion
Guys the best way to figure out your pricing is to consider these factors: 1. First and foremost - how much time/energy/money that translates into a cash value are you saving per month with your bot? 2. What will the market bear - in other words, if you were to put out a top tier product, what can you charge? This will also be dictated by the actual marketplace. 3. What do you need to make to 'make it worth your while'? This is the last point but the most important!! Let's say I decide I'm going to release a product. I do charge a larger initial charge, by the way - support in the beginnin -
Your Thoughts On The "lifetime License" Business Model?
Frank replied to HelloInsomnia's topic in General Discussion
I've just encountered this exact issue on my latest product. I do NOT offer lifetime licenses. A good business model makes it possible to continue error correction and development on a program only if there is some formula for continuous income. It just makes sense. I normally go with a monthly payment model. Does it make some people upset? Yes, it does. But I sell quality software and stand behind my code. I can only do that if I don't have to worry about making the bills on other new things while not making anything on the old going forward. This model does work - do you have a cell phone? -
Meter, I'm trying to get the plugin wp-estore to talk to the licensing system. It can pass ipn information forward, and it seems like it is but no license is created. What I'm seeing in the paypal logs is 'web_accept' under action type. Is there a way that I can contract a bit of your time to get this working? Also an update...I've tried to do it the full paypal way and that too is logged but no licensing is issued. I get the same end results - not sure what to do now. Thanks! Frank

Hey Pash, Question for you. Is there a way to hide a sub menu item? I'd like to Hide the Help/Install Flash but not the Help menu item. I want to put things in there. Frank

Hey guys, I wonder if there is a way to change an element dynamically in a page by way of changing a variable in ubot. I'm going to look to see how Darryl does conditional elements with jquery, but I'd like to post there here anyhow. What I want to do is dyamically display one image or another in the same spot based upon whether a variable is yes or no. I did see this thread on the forum, http://network.ubotstudio.com/forum/index.php?/topic/12173-how-to-make-a-field-appear-upon-clicking-a-checkbox/but wonder if it can be modified to work with a variable instead of a checkbox. I believe that tables are global in nature, so they will be seen all over the place.

I've just figured out something very cool about the select dropdown that I'd like to share. I've been automating a site that can display dropdowns in multiple languages. I discovered that the value in the dropdown is saved as a number, not the name that's displayed in the dropdown. I tried to tell the select dropdown to choose the select value, which is the number. You know what? works 100% Hope this small tip helps you! Frank

Hey I can relate. I'm working on a big project right now - and I've not released yet. I think I'm going to have to release the lite version of the software just to get some revenue going and then offer to let people upsell into the pro and server versions, lol. Let's all sing - 'it's the job that never ends, it just goes on and on my friends. Just when you think your done, you find that you've just begun......it's the job that never ends....' Cheers, Frank

Agreed with the rest Aymen, thanks for this share. Just what I needed to limit the number of instances that can be run on a single pc to avoid database corruption! Frank

Hey Darryl, Have you thought of adding in functionality to tie into a database directly? Such as sqlite - maybe using other plugins available? So it would formulate the sql call based upon what action is called on? Frank

Hey Pash, Do you still do discounts when purchasing multiple plugins? I was just on your new site and didn't see that anymore. Frank

Meter, I have to tell you there's two features I wish this system had and really they are not essential but would be awesome. First is on the dialog that comes up that there's a new version, it would be cool if there was a way to have a third button that was something like 'Update Notes' and if they click on it, it will leave the current dialog open but pop open another windows that is a simple text dialog to show notes that could be included as a file with the update.zip file. That way, the user can see things that have been done on the update. Second, I wish there was a tab in the interfac

Yep, I can also vouch for Meter's system. I especially love the auto updating feature. That rocks.

I'm contemplating the idea of creating a course on building a profitable bot that can easily be sold to the public using Ubot Studio. I've done it several times, very successful and I'm currently about to release a bot that has been forecast by our primary JV partner that it should initially sell over $500,000 on release. Whether it does or doesn't isn't relevant. What is relevant is if you wish to sell your ubot developed programs for more than $100 you need to learn the 3 S's. The 3 S's are: Your bots need to be Sensible - in other words, no confusing interfaces, just well thought out
