how to test proxies

Recommended Posts

Hi at all,

i've got a short question about proxies!

I scrape some proxies from different websites. But before i run my real bot i want to check weather the proxies are running and write the running proxies into a list.

Can anyone help me with an idea? Maybe i'm to stupid :-).

Thanks to everyone.

thanks for your answers. i used your links and everything is running good.

but is there is possibillity to check the proxies with ubot?

i saw some bots where you can use a "check proxy" option but i don't know if the "botter" used some external services.

You can add your proxies to a list and navigate to a testing site. Run the proxies and search the page for whatever text that indicates the status of that proxy.

I have just started using a small sub to check the proxy every time its used, something like:

1. Set proxy creds

2. Navigate to a page on my site with the single word 'success' on it

3. Scrape the page and look for the word 'success'

4. IF success is present THEN {run your code to do whatever}

5. ELSE {go to top of loop and start again}

Seems to work quite well - apologies for the rough outline, haven't got ubot on this laptop or else I would of uploaded how I do it!

Malefic,

Can you up the code for this?

I would love to see how you have set this up!

Cheers,

Jay

Botguru just shared this link with me.  It is awesome and worth the $5 sale price if you need to check hundreds of thousands of proxies at a time.
