  3. Clear Cookies Not Working

    Is the site using flash cookies?

    try:

    I'm also having issues with clearing cookies, Ive tried everythingn from shell to changing up user agent. Could it be a browser issue? Considering that I can manually do it on firefox on my mac and it works seemless, Ubot is not. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Hey Guys,

     

    While I've been on my computer I randomly notice a black screen with a ton of code that pops up and disappears quickly. I'm a little concerned that there are tracking services running in the background tracking what I am doing on my computer. Whether it be a virus I downloaded, or something gaining access to my computer.

     

    I was wondering if anybody had the same issues?

     

    Also, Wondering after looking at all the things running in the background with Windows 8, What can I safely get rid of and should I be concerned that somebody is tracking my everything on my personal computer??

    Hey Colton, Thanks for the add.. It seems that each download is different then the one showed in the video. 1.1.1 is missing the "site" so it doesnt work. 1.1.0 doesnt have the personal/ CL emails separated either.

     

    I am assuming that we are supposed to complete the code for our own separate use? I'm sure I am probably missing something here. Looking forward to your thoughts.

     

    Update: Tested a simple scrape using 1.0: Craigslist.org/ beauty.. It ran through a ton of cities and towns until I got this error (CL does not have any ads in this category. Please select a different category and run the program again.) Cities 491, Ads 0, Emails 0

    I hope you don't mind if I post this here - I'm not trying to thread-jack or anything but I made this a few months ago and never did anything with it. So It would be nice if people find it useful since I don't need it any never did anything with it. To use it just go to tools at the top and then settings to make it change the type of proxy you want. Also, if you want me to remove this post PM me since its your thread not mine :)

     

    Hey Somnia, I downloaded your HMA bot and im getting an error on the second portion of it (when testing the bot) interested in your thoughts here. Thanks for including in this post, its a great example to learn from

  15. Simple Proxy Checker

    The format of the file I used for the sample is:

     

        NOTE: Change the file input location before you use.

        INPUT FILE FORMAT:

                   IP:PORT

                   IP:PORT:USERNAME:PASSWORD    (Note: My code loads username/password but does not use them)

     

    The separator in the text file is colon.

     

    I've got it to work for the first proxy, but anytime it tries to go ahead for the second proxy the website gives me an error: 

    Something went wrong while displaying this webpage.

    Could not create a connection to the proxy server.

    PROXY_CONNECTION_FAILED: -130

     

    Do you know what this means? How do I fix?

     

    Ive tried really simple proxy switching and checkers and it works fine for the first and then the rest on the list or table end up with this error.

    Hey Ubotters!

     

    I havent seen much information on VPN's in this forum and wanted to get input from fellow uboters on the difference between VPN's and Proxies. How each are being used and benefits of either or. Also, I see a good amount of script within UBOT for Proxy but nothing for VPN, Are there ways to successfully input VPN accounts??

    Trying this code out and its not working for some reason.. Maybe my file format is wrong, What file format are you using? Im just copying pasting free proxies off the web to test and get more comfortable with Proxy list... Learning process.. ugh :wacko:

    What I do is create a CSV file. Each row of the CSV file has all the information needed to use a proxy and also on that row is all the information needed to login to an account (such as a Yahoo Answers account, etc.)

    So I loop through that CSV file and put the proxy in place, then login to the account and do the work and then logout and repeat with the next row from the CSV file.

     

    Here is a link to a post where I show looping thru the CSV file to check the proxies. What you would add to that code is logging into an account and doing some work after checking the proxy.

    No, I have not used a VPN with UBOT but would like to know more about that.

     

    This is helpful and thanks for sending over the thread, I think your technique is great to link cookies and IP's together per USERID. But the more I think about it, When I want to do mass account creation or even this issue with Scraping a few times in a row (as you said hammer a site), Im not sure this techinque will work. Should I have a basket of IP's that I use to do these mass projects? If so, How should I switch them so that my bot is not running into pages that time out of lock out?

     

    Curious to how developers are using Proxies/ VPN's in the most effecient way without, It seems like UBOT and proxies go hand in hand, Everytime I test a bot im developing a few times. Depending on the site I get locked out or my IP address gets banned.

    Wiri,

    A dynamic IP means that the ISP can change your IP address at will without any notice.

    This is opposed to a fixed IP that does not change.

     

    My ISP uses dynamic IPs and generally my IP changes about once every six months or so.

     

    So if you have a process that hammers a site with dozens and/or hundreds of requests and you don't use proxies they will all be coming from your IP (which probably won't change during the run).

    The best technique I have used is to associate a proxy address to an account. That way when the account logs in, it comes from the same location every time like a person would.

    Then when the next account logs in it is coming from a different proxy IP address that is always the same for that account. So many hits on a site from different IP/account combinations.

    You need better quality proxies (or more of them) or if you are not using them at all you need to start. 

     

    Thanks Volund, I was sort of expecting that answer. But have never used Proxies. Can you share the best practic using proxies and give me the run down? Are there any resources out there you would recommend me looking into? Feel free to PM me. I appreciate your insights and help here! Cheers

    Working on a scraper bot of EZINE Articles and after testing my bot for the first page of 25 articles twice got this message... See below.. Is this for real? How can I combat this? I would assume this is going to continue happening with every site. There is an excessive amount of traffic coming from your Region.

    I wouldn't use free shared proxies from HMA at this time. Everyone knows them now and the free proxy IPs don't work very well anymore.

    If you are serious about accomplishing something, I would suggest paid private proxies these days.

     

     

    arunner26, Thanks for the advice. I believe that HMA has a private VPN but most likely is shared, Would this work? From a private proxy standpoint is this the same as an IP address? Or do Private proxies come with multiple IP's, Looking up the cost of private IP's they can get expensive especially if 1 IP only can create up to 3 email addresses. Looking forward to your thoughts.   24. How Many Bots Can Run At The Same Time On The Same Computer?

    This maybe a loaded question but I'm attempting to get an idea of how I can scale my business and was wondering what feedback others may have.

     

    I realize the length and size of the bot running might defer the response in answers but on average how many bots can run on the same computer at a time?

     

    Should I be looking at cloud services to scale my business, to have multiple servers or computers running multiple bots at the same time? If so any recommendations?

     

    How many browsers do you typcally run at the same time before your computing gets bogged down.

    You need to look into adding proxies.  It sounds like your IP is getting banned, and thats whats tripping you up.

     

    Hi a2mateit, I was thinking that was my issue as well. Ive done some research on Proxies and see that their are a bunch of Free ones on the web and paid services too. Now I need to figure out how to implement into my bot, How would be the best way to set this up? What other benefits are there for having a paid Proxy Server, I've read that "Hidemyass" comes highly recommended. What are your thoughts? Feel free to PM me
