  1. Super Auto Blogger Version 3.3 released (http://www.superautoblogger.com). Now has support for youtube video posts. Many improvements made. Existing customers get free upgrade and have been emailed but some of the emails I sent bounced back. If you have purchased and not had the upgrade email then let me know and I'll send you download instructions.

Also am looking for more testimonials for the product that I can put on the site. All testimonials used will include a link back to your own site or blog.

  2. I've had several PM's so am adding this here...

The ubot function that you add to your bots alongside the new protection system uses only commands from the standard version and therefore you can protect bots made with any version of ubot.

    Andy.

P.S. By its nature this tool raises questions and support, all of which I respond to very quickly. As such I don't necessarily want too many people using it, its not my main business, I came up with a solution for me originally and offered it and then developed it further. As such I am increasing the price 1st December.

  3. Hey guys. I'm having a problem utilizing the $read file constant.

Basically, I want to use it to be able to post an article. So, in the settings area, I can upload a .txt file containing the article body. Now, when I use the $read file command to post the content from the .txt file, it's not recognizing certain charectors or something.

Every time an apostrophe is used in the .txt file, it's replaced with a little 'square' image instead of the ' .

It also can't seem to recognize 'bullets', or paragraphs well either.

I tried using a .doc file instead of .txt but that doesn't work at all. Is there a way to post an article from a file without messing up the article?

Its because ubot doesn't handle unicode. Load the file in txt editor and save it back out as ANSI and then try.

  4. Thanks for the kind words guys.

I have updated my super auto blogger bot to use this now and am offering a restricted trial version which is already proving to help get sales.

If you want an idea of how I think the trial system is best used then check out my approach at www.superautoblogger.com - scroll to the end of that page for the link to the trial version which captures email, gives them the trial which runs for 7 days and follows up with a couple of emails during the trial to encourage them to buy.

Simple but effective marketing (I am no marketing expert).

P.S. Have also just added a changelog feature to the auto updater in Protect Gold so now when someone downloads they can see what changes to expect.

P.P.S. For those who asked, Super Auto Blogger now has an affiliate program in place that pays 50% commissions.

  5. For this particular website, there's a captcha that repeats the same word multiple times. However, there are probably at least 500 words. Unfortunately, it takes way too long and this bot needs to be fast. I'm making the bot enter the same word until it enters the right word. However, there's a 1 in 500 chance of that happening and it could take 20 minutes before the bot enters the right one. Is there a way to speed the bot up?

For example, I could make a while loop. While the captcha is wrong, the bot will keep entering and that could speed the bot up.

Maybe there is another way of that I don't know of. Anybody have ideas?

    What is the web site?

    Andy

  6. I've just finished work on a new protection system that does way more than my original Protect66 solution.

It's called Protect Gold and you can read about it and see some video demos of it in action on the Protect Gold Web Page

I have emailed those who own Protect66 and offered a special upgrade deal, if you are a Protect66 customer and have not recieved that email then contact me and I'll fill you in.

Protect Gold not only protects bots but gives you a way of doing time limited trials, auto updates and more.

  7. 1. Yes. It makes your browser be whatever you want it to be from within Ubot.

    2. Dodge websites that have blacklisted your useragent for scraping. Or change the Useragent so that a website presents its mobile version instead of its full version to you, making it easier to automate. Or change the useragent so that it present the Mozilla Firefox version of the site instead of the IE format of the site, since the IE format of the site might bug out Ubot... and other little things like that.

    3. See 2.

Thanks for this meter. Are we allowed to distribute this with our compiled bots?

  8. I guess my biggest problem with all this pro and dev license stuff is that it's not included in the original price I paid for ubot. I'm not saying that I haven't gotten good use out of ubot, It was my understanding though that updates/upgrades were included in the original purchase. That said, I do greatly appreciate the time and effort that goes into developing ubot and adding features. If I could use some of the new selectors and such, I don't want to have to buy a pro or dev license to get them. I do not sell bots, but in my own work I have some areas where these features may be helpful. Possibly not helpful often enough to warrant the upgrade price.

So, I just got an idea. Could you offer the full functions of ubot for current license holders while limiting compiling of bots to the license structure? This way you know if the bots are sold, it will require ubot to run them thereby making selling them unprofitable. Here's a clip from ubots FAQ page:

"our top priority is our core audience - customers who want to automate their own business processes with UBot Studio.

The reason why we built compiling system in first place was to facilitate distribution of bots among internal teams."

I always use my bots in ubot unless something doesn't work unless compiled. So, if I have all the features available, and try to compile a bot with "pro" commands used in it, then it simply won't compile unless I buy the pro license. As long as I run my bots in ubot though, I can access the commands.

Sorry for the long post. What does everyone else think about this?

I agree. I have stuck ubot on the back burner for now as far as new bot development goes until this licensing is all cleared up. As far as I can tell from the snippets I've read on here we can define the new licenses as:

Pro License - All the stuff people have asked for that should've been in ubot in the first place.

Dev License - Ubots way of giving users the removal of the powered by link and also a way to back pedal on the original sales pitch which clearly says ubot can be used to sell compiled bots even though it is not the primary function of ubot. Go look at the FAQ and you'll see how this is emphasized and is really the main reason I bought ubot to begin with. Then look at the recent posts that indicate selling compiled bots is actually in breach of the license!

Don't get me wrong, I don't mind paying for upgrades but to start tossing features in and then announcing two more licensing levels out of the blue but no clear pricing, ETAs, etc... uggh.

The whole approach is amaturish. If you want to offer a beta of the pro version then KEEP IT SEPERATE from the stable release. Don't ask me every time I start ubot if I want to upgrade. Don't put out a release that is declared as 'stable' that has new features that should be part of the 'pro beta'. Remember that the true definition of beta release comes AFTER an alpha release that has been tested in-house - this is clearly never done with ubot because we get beta releases that flat out don't work and have fundamental things wrong with them.

I don't want my copy of ubot to have commands on offer that are not going to available unless I upgrade. Until there is some clarity on all of this I cannot consider ubot a development tool and am now putting my time into developing stuff using another platform. When all this 'murkiness' clears up I'll review that position.

  9. We have $specialkeys:down but we could benefit from others, especially to help get around some sites that look for keypresses in javascript to enable a form button, etc.

    Here would be my suggestions:

    Very Useful:

    ============

    Tab

    Up

    Quite Useful:

    =============

    BackSpace

    Left

    Right

    Home

    End

    Escape

Might be handy but not too bothered:

    ====================================

    PageUp

    Page Down

    Insert

    Delete

  10. Lets say I want to create a directory submission script. I get the bot to create an account and login. It clicks the add site button. Next, I have to populate a form with my standard data. But one of those options is to pick the Category.

Is there any way to pause the script so you can manually choose that aspect yourself? Then have the script continue?

    Thanks,

    Jon

Put in a 'pause script' node. You can then choose the aspect and then click the play button to continue running the script.

So basically the flow would be....

Fill in what you can automatically

    Pause Script

    Choose submit button

    click chosen

  11. i been thinking about buying this for awhile now

    but...

    1. I thought the price was $99 but now i see its $167 guess it went up

(my fault for delaying i guess)

    2. the demo on the site did not work

the bot was made with an older version of ubot guess that might be the problem

    3. before i invest another large amount of money into my hobby i was wondering if anyone who bought this had any problems with it or if any of your end users did

i just don't want to be kicking myself for spending that much on something that don't work

(like the demo on the site)i have 6 kids and plenty of bills i could spend the money on so any and all feed back would be appreciated

    thanks

    daddydanimal

    Hi daddydanimal,

I'll check the demo out today. The protect system has had a lot of updates since it came out (in fact the price rise is because I spend far more time updating the system to keep in line with changes in ubot that its not viable for me to keep the price as it was). I have not updated the demo with the latest code so I will do this today.

I'll be totally honest with you about how others have got on with the system. A couple have had teething problems getting it set up, but I am sure they'd tell you that the support I gave was prompt and in all cases any issues were resolved.

Have just sent you a PM on here that should answer your other q's before you buy!

    Andy
