When I was first approached about an Instagram scraper, I had similar thoughts about what to do with the data. It turns out that it's actually really valuable! Whether you run Instagram bots, or an Instagram account, you can draw out everything from the results. One of the outputs is all of the scraped hashtags, with that data, you can graph it out to see what hashtags to include with your posts, or to scrape from in the future. With the user scraper built-in, if you run an Instagram bot, it makes it really easy to follow people in your niche, who are more likely to follow you back.

In Excel, or OpenOffice, you can easily create a pie chart to see which hashtags you're missing out on.

I take it this does not use instagram itself, but one of the web based sites?

You're correct that the bot doesn't deal with Instagram itself, I've worked the backend of one of the Instagram viewers to serve as a barrier between the user and Instagram. However I'm cautious to call it a web viewer because there's no browser involved, it's pretty much the API of the website being used.

The source code actually doesn't use API requests, so you won't need an API key or anything. It uses an external website that accesses Instagram on your behalf, and automates that.

The user interface behind the bot and the logic behind the scraping works, but it is not functioning the same as when I posted this thread. You can still learn from it, but you can't just re-name it and sell it.
